Portuguese to English and Spanish, live at your event

Aulra Voice is an AI live translation service for in-person events where the speaker talks in Portuguese. People in the room scan a QR code and hear the talk in English or Spanish, sentence by sentence, on their own phone and earbuds. Portuguese is the only source language. English and Spanish are the languages your audience can choose.

Who this is for

Aulra fits an event with one person speaking Portuguese and an audience that doesn't follow all of it:

  • A Brazilian guest speaker at a US event.
  • A workshop or seminar led in Portuguese, with English-speaking attendees.
  • A talk for a Portuguese-speaking community that includes relatives, partners and friends who speak English or Spanish.

It isn't a personal translator. Aulra doesn't handle a back-and-forth conversation between two people, and it doesn't translate a speaker using any language other than Portuguese. If that's what you need, this isn't the right tool.

How Portuguese becomes English in the room

  1. The voice is captured. An operator signs in to the Aulra console in a browser and picks a microphone: the laptop or phone's own, or a Bluetooth or USB one.
  2. The speech is translated. The service transcribes the Portuguese, translates it and turns the result into speech in each language you offer.
  3. Each listener hears it. The translation comes right after each sentence the speaker finishes, on the listener's phone, at the volume they choose.

Because Aulra works sentence by sentence, the speaker's pauses matter. Ask your speaker to finish a thought and pause briefly before moving on. It's a small habit, and it gives the translation a clear place to catch up.

Portuguese to Spanish, in the same event

You don't need a second setup to reach Spanish speakers. Before going live, choose which languages the audience can pick: English, Spanish or both. There's still one speaker and one QR code. Each listener opens the page and picks English or Español.

Offer Spanish when you know who's coming. Each language you turn on uses credit for the full length of the event, so a language nobody needs is worth leaving off.

What it costs

Aulra is priced by the language-hour: one hour of your event, translated into one language. A one-hour talk in English uses 1 language-hour. The same talk in English and Spanish uses 2.

You pay a US$ 14.90 monthly subscription, plus prepaid credit starting at US$ 27.00 for 5 language-hours. The subscription doesn't include translation hours. Credit lasts 12 months after purchase and is non-refundable. Listeners don't pay anything, and the number of listeners doesn't change the price. See all packs and monthly estimates.

What to expect from AI translation

Translations are produced automatically by AI, and they can be inaccurate or incomplete. Try Aulra with your own speaker before the event, so you can hear how it handles the way that person talks.

We don't keep audio, transcripts or translations of your events. Our AI providers may retain data temporarily under their own terms, as the Privacy Policy explains.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as simultaneous interpretation?

It serves a similar need, but it works differently. A human interpreter is a person following the speaker. Aulra is AI translation, sometimes called real-time translation, delivered sentence by sentence. It isn't a substitute for a human interpreter.

Can the speaker switch to English during the talk?

Plan on the speaker staying in Portuguese. Portuguese is the only source language Aulra offers.

Which microphone do we need?

You can start with the microphone built into your laptop or phone, or connect a Bluetooth or USB one. Try your setup before the event.

Do listeners need an account?

No. They open a web page from the QR code. They don't install an app, create an account or pay.

Is there a recording of the talk afterward?

No. Aulra translates and moves on. If you need a recording, you'll have to make it separately.
